A more sustainable waste management, aligned with the territorial context and the current climate change scenario, has been one of the major challenges at the state, regional, and local levels for years. In the case of Menorca, a dynamic and continuously evolving island, it’s particularly important to move towards a consumption and production model focused on reducing waste generation, promoting reuse, and ultimately, recycling.
The Menorca Waste and Energy Consortium aims to further improve the quality of life in all municipalities of Menorca by reducing the amount of waste in the residual fraction and enhancing organic waste collection.
The goal is to provide a better, more tailored service to each area of the municipality while meeting environmental obligations for waste reduction and recycling. Therefore, a progressive implementation of the door-to-door collection system will be introduced. This system has shown significant improvements in separate collection rates where it has been implemented, helping us meet the separation and recycling objectives outlined in current legislation.
This transformational process cannot be achieved without the involvement of citizens.
